50 Stopped Pick-Pocket: Peterhof Palace Pick-Pocket Prevented!

Dear Clothing Arts,

Your Adventure Travel pants stopped a pick-pocket at the Peterhof in St. Petersburg, Russia. My husband was wearing your pants and had his wallet in the large square cargo pocket on his lower thigh. He was so absorbed with taking the perfect shot of the Palace that he did not notice a young woman standing next to him who managed to get the two buttons of the pocket undone before she was noticed by someone standing nearby who sounded the alarm. She did not get the zipper opened before the alarm was sounded, and thus the wallet was saved. Its dangerous to think that the pants are totally ‘pickpocket proof.’ My husband should not have had his wallet in that lower pocket but he thought it was safe because he had on ‘pickpocket proof pants.’ However, the combination of buttons and zippers made the process of getting at his wallet time consuming enough to allow detection.

49 Stopped Pick-Pocket: Pockets Stay Secure On St. Petersburg Metro!

Dear Clothing Arts,

We visited Russia about two years ago. Despite warnings that it was a pick-pocket haven, it was one of the most delightful trips we have ever taken. My level of mental comfort was aided in no small part by the Pick-Pocket Proof pants that I wore every day. Their value really came into play when I went down into the St. Petersburg subway (I'm a big transit fan and use the public transit systems wherever we visit). I was standing on the platform waiting for a train with two men directly in front of me. The train pulled into the station, the two men got on in front of me, then immediately turned around and exited, one on each side of me. They brushed both my side pockets on their way out. I knew immediately what had happened and also knew immediately that they were unsuccessful. Thanks Pick-Pocket Proof pants!

48 Stopped Pick-Pocket: ANOTHER Pick-Pocket Prevented On Paris Metro

Dear Clothing Arts,

I have had my pockets picked twice in Europe, once in the Netherlands and once in Paris. I was looking for a pair of pick-pocket-proof pants for my 2017 trip to Paris and purchased a pair of Clothing Arts pants for the trip. On April 18th in the Paris Metro, a person attempted to pick my pockets. My wife watched him and he saw her watching and he still proceeded. We got off of the Metro at the next stop, not ours, and as I was leaving the car I felt a tug on my pants, reached down, pulled the arm, and bent the fingers I found as far back as I could. What I should have done is pulled the arm attached to the fingers such that they would get caught in the door. Doors on French Metro cars do not open as elevator doors in the U.S. Once starting to close they do not reopen for an arm. Needless to say, the pants stopped the pick-pocket although the button on the strap was open. So he got that far. I understand this incident is #48 overall and #8 in Paris. I highly commend ClothingArts for designing a tremendous product that is pick pocket proof as well as being extremely well made and comfortable. I highly recommend the product to anyone who travels.

47 Stopped Pick-Pocket: Palace Pick-Pocket Prevented at Versailles!

Editor's Note: We were first made aware of our 47th stopped pick-pocket through a 5 star review on our Pick-Pocket Proof ® Adventure Travel Pants! Art, a traveler from Virginia, described being "felt up" while visiting the Palace at Versailles. We followed up with him for more detail on his experience. Here's what Art had to say:

Dear Clothing Arts,

I absolutely believe I was being groped by a pick pocket or two! I felt my wallet and cash were secure since I had them in my front pocket and then in the pocket with a Velcro cover, pocket zippered up and it was buttoned! The zipper on one of my pockets was moved down somewhat near the clasped button. My wife was near me and immediately asked if our items were secure since she saw a few fellows close to me. Paris is a fantastic city but I believe they have some of the most professional pick pockets in the world.

Your customer service is OUTSTANDING!  I had placed my order in early February purposely for the March Paris trip. Customer service called me and told me my order was delayed due NIS issues.  I mentioned I ordered them for the Paris trip.  They said they would annotate my order but couldn't promise me if I would received the order on time.  The week we were going to leave they called me and said they could get my order but not in the color I wanted.  I readily accepted it and I received the pants a day or two before the trip.  If I wasn't wearing those pants, I believe I could have been a victim of a pick pocket.

45th & 46th Stopped Pick-Pockets: One In Paris & One In Rome

Editor's Note: We get our testimonials in many ways and for our 45th and 46th stopped pick-pockets we had a long-time traveler write in on our Facebook page. Although we don't have too many details surrounding these stops we do know that one happened in Paris (2013) and one in Rome (2015). These stops bring our city totals to 6 in Paris and 17 in Rome! We wrote to our traveler and asked for more information on the stop, here's what he said:

43 Stopped Pick-Pocket: Roman Traveler Prevents Pick-Pocket

I bought 3 pair of the pick-pocket proof pants for my trip to Italy last May.  I loved them because I didn't have to carry a purse.  Everything I needed was close at hand and very protected.  I did encounter a pick-pocket on the subway in Italy.  They were a team of three.  They came right after me, but got nothing.  I was scared to death, but glad my things were protected.  I bought the men's pants because that was what was in stock at the time.  They were fantastic!!!! What city did you encounter the pick-pockets?

• Rome

What was the reason for your trip?

• A religious pilgrimage to see the city’s many holy sites.

How many people went on the trip?

• About 50 people

Where were you when you encountered the pick-pockets?

• At the end of a long day of sightseeing, the priest leading the trip, Father Paul, asked if anyone in the group would want to do an optional walking tour. Afterwards, Father Paul walked our small group to a subway and even warned the group to beware of pick-pockets! The group had to transfer to 2 to 3 different subway lines to get back to the hotel.

When did you notice something was wrong?

• While on the way back, a team of 3 “interesting” looking people got on the train; 2 guys and 1 girl. I was standing and holding the pole in the metro when the they approached me. One came right up and put his hand right on the same pole. He started bumping into me to distract me.

How was the pick-pocket stopped?

• He openly tried to pick my pocket but couldn’t get through the zipper due to the buttoned flap and gave up! They then went on to try and pick-pocket another woman on the tour and successfully got into her wide-open hand bag and were able to retrieve a few items before the priest intervened to stop the thieves.

While in Rome I was getting on the bus with a large group all waiting at the bus stop. Once on and still standing up I felt someone’s hand trying to unzip the pocket where I had my cash. Fortunately, along with the zipper, my tab that was buttoned and saved me from what would have been a very unhappy ending to my day.  I cannot imagine traveling without the Clothing Arts pants, they are wonderful!

41 Stopped Pick-Pocket: Blocked On A Barcelona Bus

My first pair of Pick-pocket proof travel pants gave me security and comfort travelling in Eastern Africa in 2013 – but saw no action. My second pair thwarted a fellow on a bus in Barcelona last year. The bus was standing room, but not so full as to expect contact. A fellow passenger talking on his cell phone with his left hand and with a sweater draped over his left arm leaned against me. OK, I thought this was just a friendly Spanish culture thing. But after some contact, I felt light tugging on my right rear zipper. The guy was a pro. Using his hidden right hand, he got past the buttons without my realizing, but he took too long and the added security of the zipper saved the day. At that second I turned surprised and angry. He seemed perplexed and surprised as well, likely because he was caught and the pants proved too much of a challenge. Saved my wallet and all the hassles of replacing credit cards and ID. Great travel pants!

My family is in Rome, Italy right now. Inside a metro train yesterday, my husband caught a young teenager opening his pants to get to his iPhone. Hi Adam,

Your pants saved my husband the second time again. We went to watch a soccer game of Roma team at the former olympic arena. The metro bus was packed and a well dressed man almost got to my husband's pocket. The pickpocket was able to open the zipper and buttons. What saved my husband was the depth of the front pockets. He had several hundred euros in there as well as several credit cards. Your pants are well designed to thwart pickpockets. My husband is now self aware when he is in crowded metros. We owe you our safety.

I think I have set the record for thwarting pickpockets while wearing Clothing Arts pants and shirts.

Twice in the Paris Metro, the World Olympics of pick-pocketing, I have been accosted by pickpockets. On both occasions, to their befuddlement. they came up with nothing.

In Dakar, Senegal, an otherwise extremely safe city, pickpockets who exist there in large numbers, tried to pickpocket me. Both times, they failed to abscond with anything. In short, my investment in your products have already have paid for themselves many times over.
